Hunger strike by Contract Multipurpose Female Health Workers in Ludhiana

30 September, 2011, Ludhiana: The Contract Multipurpose Female Health Workers have been fasting in front of the civil hospital for 38 days now for their demand of regularising them. In their demand, women from different parts of Punjab join them everyday.
The workers were also severely beaten up and dragged by the police to the police station some days back when they demonstrated before the residence of the Health Minister, Mr. Satpal Gosain in Ludhiana. Many members were severely injured. The District President of the union, Com. Surjeet Pradhan could not move when taken to the Police Station.
The members of the Contract Multipurpose Female Health Workers Union have been sitting on a hunger strike for several days demanding regularisation of employment.
