National Day of Action- in Solidarity with Maruti Workers
Assam
200 activists from Majuri Sramik union and Bagicha Sramik Union demonstrated outside the Maruti Suzuki showroom and submitted a memorandum in Jorhat.
Chhattisgarh
A delegation of Pragatisheel Cement Shramik Sangh and Jan Adharit Engineering Mazdoor Union submitted a memorandum of protest through the District Collector Durg on 22 September, and later in the afternoon several hundred workers raised slogans at Niyogi Chowk in Bhilai.
Delhi

Around 75 people, including NTUI affiliate members, the Workers’ Union Trade Union (WUTU), along with the Voltas Employees Union (VEU), Mazdoor Ekta Manch, and students and teachers of the University of Delhi (through New Socialist Initiative and Students for Social Justice) marched from the Tiz Hazari Metro Station to a Maruti-Suzuki showroom on afternoon of 22 September. The showroom was occupied for about half an hour and then held a public meeting in car yard of the outlet that was addressed by Padam (WUTU), Tek Chand Jangra (Voltas) and Gautam Mody (NTUI).
Kerala
Protests were held in Ernakulam and Trivandrum by the NTUI State Council. In Trivandrum, the protest was addressed by D. Thankappan, (President NTUI), along with K.P.Vishwavalsalan, Krishnammal, Pratap Singh, E.George, Paras Raja, Sreenivas Das and Gaja Das. NTUI affiliates including folks workers union, cable workers union and home based workers union participated among many other unions.

More than 200 workers from Siemens, Blue Star, DHL, Voltas, Nicholas, Hindustan Unilever (organised sector) and Municipal workers, Reliance, Airport workers, Garment (mostly contract workers) participated in the Mumbai chapter of demonstration. An NTUI delegation comprising of M A Patil, N. Vasudevan, Milind Ranade, Girish Ashtekar handed over a protest letter to the management representative. They also addressed and explained various aspects of the ongoing struggle in Maruti, and the need to extend solidarity and assurance to stand by Maruti Suzuki workers.
Tamil Nadu

NTUI, Tamil Nadu and AITUC held a joint demonstration in support of the Maruti Suzuki workers’ struggle on 26 September 2011 in Chennai. K.Ravi, AITUC State Secretary and T M Murthy, Deputy General State Secretary TN, M. Subbu (Treasurer NTUI), R. Sampath (Vice President WPTUC), Shankar Babu (GS Areva), Sujata Mody and V Devi (PTS), Rajendran (TMKTS), Ismail (Hindustan Motors Union), workers from Ashok Leyland, Rane group of companies (from four units), Audco, Areva, Simpson and about 250 workers participated at a demonstration at Memorial hall.
They raised slogans demanding ‘Haryana Government play non-partisan role in the Maruti Suzuki’, that ‘Maruti lift the lock out’, ‘Equal pay for Equal Work’, ‘recognition of contact labour’.
West Bengal

50 workers from various NTUI constituents of the state, Sundarban Bon Adhikar Committee, Pachim Banga Khet Majoor Samity, Nabaparjya, Shramajivee Samanvay Committee, Binodini Shramik Union gathered in front of the Maruti Suzuki regional office on Camac Street in Kolkata as part of the nationwide agitation on the afternoon of 22 September.
Protests were also held in Siliguri by Paschim Banga Cha Bagan Shramik Karmachari Union and Majuri Shramik union, an affiliate of NTUI.
